New Year’s Resolutions Blogosphere Buddy Support Group

Published by roxiticusdh under Health, women Edit This

As the end of the year approaches, I tend to get introspective and look forward to a fresh start on my life’s objectives — health, diet, fitness, career, parenting, etc. — in the New Year 2009.  Every year, I make a list of about ten key New Year’s Resolutions.  Sometimes I stick to one or two objectives through completion, but exercise and diet goals tend to fall by the wayside by the end of January… one too many holiday cookies or champagne toasts perhaps.

I’ve often thought it would be helpful to commit to my resolutions with a group of friends, but as close as we Roxiticus Desperate Housewives are, we don’t seem to get together often enough to support each other’s fitness, weight loss, or other measurable objectives.  So I’m thinking about putting together a group of blogosphere buddies in a New Year’s Resolution support group where we’ll keep after each other to stick to the goals we set up by midnight on December 31, 2008/2009.  Whaddya think?  Leave a comment here if you’re in!

The Sleep Bank

Published by roxiticusdh under Health Edit This

It’s only 10:47pm in the Roxiticus Valley and I’m almost too exhausted to post.  I did manage to make my EntreCard rounds to check out what everyone else has to say tonight, but my eyes are starting to close.  Which brings me to my topic for tonight… do you believe in The Sleep Bank?  My husband, Rex, has this theory that a person can only go for so long without “the right amount” of sleep before the Sleep Bank catches up with them.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re an early bird or a night owl.  Let’s say the right amount of sleep for me is 7 hours per night, but due to working, blogging, and EntreCard dropping, I only get 5 hours of sleep for 5 nights in a row.  According to Rex’s Sleep Bank Theorem, I should have slept for 35 hours over those 5 nights, but instead only got 25 hours of sleep, so I owe the Sleep Bank 10 hours of sleep… which means that I won’t be able to keep up my sleepless habits until I’ve given back the 10 hours…. which could be an extra 2 hours (9 hours per night) over 5 days, or all at once….17 hours straight, which only happens to me when I’m very very sick.  Back in college, I feel like I saw the Sleep Bank at work.  Just before the holidays, I would stay up all night cramming for exams, then head home and crash for a couple days before I was ready to enjoy the time off with my family.  These days, I know it is just a matter of a few nights of blogmania before I fall asleep one night while reading London and Maddie their bedtime stories at 9pm.

What do you think… do you believe in the Sleep Bank?  How ’bout the Tooth Fairy?
