First Day of the New Year

Published by roxiticusdh at 11:21 pm under women Edit This

Well, how did the first day of the New Year 2009 go for you?

Rex, London, Maddie and I all woke up late after staying up until midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square on TV.  Actually, the ball didn’t drop, as Dick Clark told us it was going to stay up all year.  I’ll have to swing by Times Square one day with my camera to get a photo one day when it isn’t 10 degrees Fahrenheit with even lower wind chills… I have no idea how all those crowds of people stayed out all night in the cold.  Taylor Swift sang live from outdoors in Times Square in a dress with NO SLEEVES!  At least Lionel Ritchie had the good sense to keep his jacket on over his turtleneck.

So this morning, Rex made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, and you might say that’s no way for Roxy to start a diet if she’s going to lose 20 pounds over the next 30 weeks.  However, I did get a strong workout on the elliptical trainer… three sets of 12.5 minutes, 5.25 miles and 550 calories burned.  Rex and I spent the early evening in the kitchen together.  He made dinner tonight:  Rosemary Meat Loaf and Macaroni and Cheese (I’ll be posting the recipes on one of my blogs over the next few days).  I cooked up a huge pot of Grandmom’s Italian Meat Sauce for Pasta.  You’ll find the recipe and photos over on Roxy’s Best Of… Chester, New Jersey .  Hope you’ll stop by for a taste!
