Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime
Rex, London, Maddie and I went out this evening to a friends’ holiday open house for families. It was great to see our friends, though we we shared the sad news that one of our favorite local restaurants, Pierre’s in Harding Township NJ, is closing after their last hurrah on New Year’s Eve. The kids all played together in the basement rec room, watching Prince Caspian (the Narnia series) on DVD and blowing up balloons to make animal shapes. The grownups mingled upstairs, with wine, cheese, delicious appetizers and chili. It was a simple holiday party, but a perfect fit with the rest of our relaxing holiday break activities, focused on lounging around the house. For example, the girls and I spent the earlier part of the day putting together a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle, while Rex caught up on the Sunday New York Times. Tomorrow we’re looking forward to more of the same… we’ll send out our New Year’s cards and maybe get started on a family time capsule project.
We’re simply having a wonderful Christmastime!
