thirtysomething
Who remembers thirtysomething…not the age, but the television series? The cast of characters included Hope (Mel Harris) and Michael (hot Ken Olin), Nancy (Patricia Wettig) and Elliott (Timothy Busfield), Melissa (Melanie Mayron), Gary (Peter Horton), Ellyn (Polly Draper), and Miles, the evil ad agency overlord.
When thirtysomething was popular back in the late eighties and early nineties, my girlfriends and I were all twentysomethings, in college and just out of college. If I recall correctly, it was on every Tuesday night at 10pm, and we would all get together at my friend Melissa’s house…actually, she was still living at home with her parents, but we’d all get together in her living room with a big bowl of popcorn and a few beers.
Twenty years later, I’m fortysomething, happily married with two little girls, and our family’s TV show of choice is Desperate Housewives every Sunday night at 9:00pm on ABC. When I have the time to keep track of Brothers and Sisters, I’m happy to see Patricia Wettig again. I’ve been searching for a thirtysomething DVD box set on Amazon for a few years now and have come up empty-handed.
